Good news minute

I GOT AN OFFER FROM AN AGENT ON MY BOOK!!

So, as many of you know, I've been working on this fantastic book called Hero- title still debatable... Anyway, I've been working EXTREMELY HARD on this book for several years in-between life experiences. And now, after many years of hard hard work, I took a class, felt courage and submitted my manuscript to this amazing agency that my professor/agency founder (who constantly rubs shoulders with Spielberg) Soooo after agonizing MONTHS of checking my e-mail at least three times a day, hoping, wishing and praying for a response from this agency, I finally got a response and ta da!!!!

I got an offer!!!

Here are the highlights from her letter about my book:

We have now had an opportunity of reading HERO. Your writing keeps improving and we feel very strongly this is a book that has a great possiblity of selling.

Lots of business talk about some editing that needs to take place- fyi- no matter how much you edit your book, you will ALWAYS find problems! and then she ended with this happy note:

I am very proud of the way your work is developing. Hero is definitely a worthy project.

Right away, I wrote back declining the offer... kidding! Naturally, I wrote back telling her "I am thrilled that you see the potential of my book Hero. I am anxious to work with you and your company." and asked for more details. I'm pretty sure nothing will happen until Christmas is over and we're into the new year, but for now- this is my exciting news!

In short: I got an offer from an amazing agent, yes I will pay a bit out of pocket in the beginning, but the pay off later will be oh so worth it!! To hold my book, something tangible in my hands that has brought so much joy, and effort. I look forward to the new year and to these exciting new experiences!!

Thanks for the love and support from close and a far! I'm soooo blessed to have each and every one of you, my reader's, support and encouragement! Thanks again! (and p.s if you didn't get a phone call from me the second AFTER I read the e-mail it's because you (Jernae, Jesi) go to bed WAY too early! he he

Good night!!
Morgan- future author. :D (Feeling excellent right now!!)

Thanksgiving pics

This year we made it to Salt Lake for Thanksgiving- yeah! Although we had to dash home late Saturday night to avoid a looming snowstorm that ended up being awful, we took some great pics in before we left. :D

Jesi decided to try her hand in musical theatre this year and tried out for Christmas Carol. She not only received a speaking part, participated as a dancer but ALSO got a dance solo! Way to make a splash into theatre Jesi!

While we were at Jesi's play, Lexie had an accident. :( Poor gal slipped on the top stair and hit her eye on the hardwood floor. Her shiner was just so pretty, I took a couple pictures as the bruise got more lovely through the week as it healed.

Violin Concert
Before we drove home Saturday night, we were treated to a violin concert. My mom is very talented in the music department and plays a lot of instruments, violin being one of them. So my sisters had a their violin recital and showed off their blooming gifts. So proud of these girls for all their hard work. And the violins are just so cute and little!

Sinter Klaas
My dad is German, but served his mission in Holland and so on the 5th of Dec. we celebrate Sinter Klaas which is similar to Santa Clause in the Netherlands. Traditionally speaking, Sinter Klaas visits the homes of all the children while riding a white horse and gets help from Schwatze Pete. If you've been good, Sinter Klaas leaves treats in the wooden shoes you've left outside, but if you've been bad, Pete, his helper will steal the naughty children and ship them off to the America's! (Now we know where all those illegal immigrants came from!)

This was Lexie's first Sinter Klaas celebratory party and the first that my little sister's will remember. Great food, awesome recital, and wonderful entertainment provided by Sinter Klaas himself. Unfortunately, I didn't take any family pictures of us with our chocolate letters... Guess we'll have to take care of that next year! :D

Pays to be persistent- fingers still crossed

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally heard something. Yippee Skippee!!!!!!!!

Okay so I literally just read this e-mail and it's exciting okay- cut me some slack and instead of trying to pull me from cloud nine- do jump splits for me instead!!!!!

Here's the e-mail:

Dear Morgan:
I managed to wrestle HERO out of a pile of 43 submissions and piles of editing, and now it's rescued, I will read it as quickly as I can and get back to you, hopefully before the holidays.
Best wishes, Dr. Western MWA

Alrighty folks- moral of the story: it pays to be persistent even if it's just an e-mail that says- got your e-mail. YEAH!!!

Off to bed. Thanks for the prayers, loves, hugs and jump splits in my behalf. :D

Keep'n it Short and Sweet

Still waiting... on the book that is. Sent an e-mail today asking for the status on my novel. It's been a month since my submission and I haven't heard if the novel was received let alone reviewed. And so- the e-mail is off and sitting at their desk. I was told I'd know within the week of submitting my novel and now that 4 weeks has passed- I'm anxious! I don't know how you do it Jernae! I mean, serious patience!!!

Eventually I'll get to telling you about Thanksgiving and how Lexie got her first (of many self-induced) shiner!
