May

It's been too long since I updated the world on what's been happening over at our house. This month we've had a graduation, a work party, a wedding, funeral, and a baby shower to attend- talk about a jam packed month! Here's the favorite pictures:

Melted crayons! :( Guess it's hot down here.
Going to Penney's work party

Watermelon is a fav.
Waiting for the Bride and Groom

Brandon and Rachel Ray!

At another wedding reception that night. Fun-photo booth!

Dad reading to Lexie before bed- she loves being read to.
Hermine Briggs Horman, my grandmother, passed away May, 12, 2011.

The funeral services were lovely, the church jam-packed with friends, family and even General Authorities (Grandma served in the YW General Board for several years). President Boyd K. Packer spoke, and said such wonderful/funny things about my Grandma.

This picture was taken two years ago when I had a baby shower for Lexie. At the time, Grandma wasn't doing too well, yet she came, and these are my favorite pictures of her.
Grandma was such an accomplished woman. Graduated with a BA in English from BYU at 81. Last December Grandma finished her fourth published book. She has such wit, especially when she writes! I'm certain my love of writing came from her- and how thankful I am!
Oh how I love this woman!
This picture was taken a year ago, last memorial weekend. Grandma taught me to love music and enjoy performing. (she always "made" me give her a piano recital whenever we visited). The last month that she was in hospice, I played the piano for her in her home, and we constantly sang songs for her. Although I was and still am sad, that I said goodbye to Grandma last week, I know I will see her again. Until then, I miss you!

After the funeral, Shane left for St. George to work on Friday and I stayed for a baby shower:
Penney, Candace, Jesi and I decided to throw Shane's cousin- Whitney (still following?) a baby shower. The theme was "Spring Cleaning" and turned out wonderfully!

Can you believe this baby carriage? Penney is amazing! We also decorated Onesies and hung them on a clothes line- but I forgot to take a picture- believe me- it was darling!
Two baby-bumps. Whitney is due in June and Jesi in September both having boys!

Baby blanket Candace, Penney and I made for Whitney using a bunch of fabric scraps I had from previous projects. Turned out awesome and sooooo soft- the best! ;)

Lexie, Penney Aunt Diane and Grandma Dewey

That pretty much sums up May- phew! We've been busy.

But don't worry- I got some writing squeezed in there too! Emily (the amazingly talented editor) sent me her edits, I made changes then sent off the next 100 pages to her and my other amazingly talented, context approver- editor Jesi! (What would I do without these gals?)

Things are going well in the Dewey home. Got a camping trip/my birthday celebration planned, and a mission homecoming/Lagoon trip planned...
June is going to be busy! But I'm excited!!!

  2. Wow. Prophet/Apostle time for you lately! How neat. I want to have met your Grandma now. Sorry for the loss, happy for the inspiration she was. What books did she write? I want to check them out! What a cool baby shower! That fruit looked YUMMY. I'm glad you May has been so AWESOME! What are you going to do once you're famous?
